Big Shot Krewe

Ian’s commitment to the Big Shot Krewe spans nearly a decade. Since 2016, he has served the Krewe with consistency, humility, and respect for tradition. Over that time, he has worked under seven Big Shots, serving as a Lieutenant and helping carry out the responsibilities that keep the Krewe moving with order and pride.

In addition to his leadership role, Ian has also been a krewe rider for four of the seven Big Shots he served. This has given him a rare, well-rounded understanding of both the leadership and brotherhood sides of the Krewe. This experience has allowed him to lead with perspective, fairness, and firsthand knowledge of what it means to serve at every level.

Ian’s years with the Big Shot Krewe reflect more than longevity; they reflect trust earned, tradition honored, and a deep respect for the men who came before and those who will follow.

Zulu Committees

Ian is steadfast in his service to the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, with hands-on involvement across the organization. He understands that the work of Zulu extends far beyond Mardi Gras Day and requires dedication throughout the entire year.

Ian has contributed his time and leadership through the Jr. Zulu Committee, Picnic Committee, Golf Tournament Committee, Night Out Against Crime, Toys for Tots, and the Back to School Giveaway. Each role reflects his belief in service, community presence, and preserving Zulu traditions while supporting the people of New Orleans.

Through consistent participation and quiet work behind the scenes, Ian has shown that Zulu is built by those willing to serve year-round; honoring the past while strengthening the future.

Jr Zulu

Since 2021, Ian has been deeply committed to the young men of the Jr. Zulu program. What began as service has grown into a true investment in the next generation; watching boys mature into young men who understand discipline, pride, and the responsibility that comes with wearing the Zulu name.

The greatest reward has been seeing former Jr. Zulu members return; not just to visit, but to speak, mentor, and pour wisdom back into those coming behind them. That full-circle moment reflects what Zulu is about: legacy, leadership, and lifting as we climb.

Lundi Gras

Lundi Gras is a cornerstone of the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club. For four years, Ian has worked closely with the Chairman and Lundi Gras Committee, helping uphold the tradition and organization of this historic day.

For the past three years, he has served as the Character Contact for scheduling—supporting coordination, communication, and the smooth flow of Lundi Gras operations through steady service and earned trust.

Ian’s involvement goes beyond titles. His work reflects a deep understanding of Zulu culture, a respect for tradition, and a commitment to teamwork. Through consistency, reliability, and service, he has helped uphold one of the Club’s most meaningful traditions—earning trust through action, not words.

Picnic Committee

Each year, the New Orleans community looks forward to celebrating with Zulu at the William “Sonny Jim” Poole Annual Picnic; a tradition rooted in fellowship, joy, and service. Ian has consistently been part of the work that makes this day possible, showing up not only for the celebration, but for the preparation that happens behind the scenes.

Year after year, Ian has been on the ground the day before the picnic assisting with barricade setup, and again early the morning of the event to help with final preparations. His presence reflects an understanding that successful events are built through teamwork, planning, and reliability.

For the past two years, Ian has also had the honor of serving as a judge at the Sonny Picnic—a role entrusted to those who understand Zulu’s standards, values, and spirit. This responsibility reflects the trust placed in him by the organization and the respect he has earned through consistent service.
